After getting consecutive wins by double digits, asking for a third in a row from the Seattle Seahawks was probably too much to ask. They were on course to do the same against the Arizona Cardinals, only
for the Cardinals to unleash a furious comeback. Not to be discouraged, Seattle had the ball last and put the game away with a walk-off winner from Jason Myers. Hey, if this didn’t end 23-20 for the Seahawks, I suppose another tie between these two in overtime would’ve been distinctly possible.
Another Seahawks win means Enemy Reaction for the second time in just a matter of days! Let’s see how wacky this gets given the topsy-turvy nature of this victory. Cardinals game thread comments are courtesy of Revenge of the Birds!

Post-Game: The offense needs a revamp and rebrand (Dave Burns, Arizona Sports)
An embarrassing display morphed into something that perhaps you can build off of. Which of those do you want to focus on tonight? They’re both relevant. They both matter. Which matters more? For me, it’s the start, not the finish.
This offense is in need of a revamp and a rebrand. Seattle has an all-everything defense to be certain, but the Cardinals didn’t cross the 200-yard threshold until their last drive of the game. The plays and the players heard about it from the home crowd and it was every bit earned. Jonathan Gannon and Drew Petzing need to use this mini-bye to devise a new plan, one that incorporates wide receivers and most importantly embraces a little risk. It was encouraging to hear Gannon suggest that the status quo can’t be the status moving forward.
And while hope is never a strategy, they have to hope that Marvin Harrison Jr. can be a part of it. As Kyler put it on Thursday night, he needs Harrison; they all do. If the fourth quarter was some sort of an awakening with just a splash of redemption, perhaps there is something useful you can take from this game after all.
Post-Game: Arizona needs this mini-bye (Theo Mackie, Arizona Republic)
The schedule provides a welcome reprieve for the Cardinals. After playing on Thursday Night Football, they now have 10 days before their next game.
It’s not quite a bye week, but it’s the closest that the Cardinals will get until then. This type of extended rest can present an opportunity to rework some things. The Cardinals certainly have plenty that needs reworking, despite their fourth-quarter comeback.
Plus, when the Cardinals return, they get a soft matchup against the Tennessee Titans at home. So far this season, they’ve been able to take care of overmatched opponents, beating the New Orleans Saints and Carolina Panthers. The Titans present an opportunity to move to 3-2, despite all the Cardinals’ early-season struggles.
It’s time to rest and then gear up for Week 5 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. We have dueling 50th anniversary seasons and that means a double throwback game, which I’m sure both sets of fans are looking forward to. Tampa Bay has scraped its way to a 3-0 record in a way never seen before in NFL history, and will be in tough as a banged up and bruised team against the Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles. Whether the Bucs remain undefeated or not heading into the Seahawks game, this is a very intriguing matchup that Carolina Panthers fans should be tied to a chair and forced to watch, as they once had Sam Darnold and Baker Mayfield on the same squad.
Just as a note: if the Seahawks do beat the Buccaneers I may not do an Enemy Reaction, or I’ll have to great creative since Bucs Nation is a very small community with a lack of game thread comments. The same will apply for Battle Red Blog and the Houston Texans on Oct. 20. No knock on those sites and all the great work they do; not every SB Nation site has as large a base as Field Gulls for a variety of reasons.
As ragged as Thursday’s win was, it feels good to close out the month on a high note and gear up for an October that could give us a strong indicator as far as whether or not the Seahawks will be back in the playoffs this year.
Thanks for reading and go ‘Hawks!
