Everton were held scoreless at home against Aston Villa in a game that they could and should have won, but in years past would have just as easily lost. That in itself can be considered progress.
Tomorrow however they go over to Anfield to take on a Liverpool side that has made it a penchant for deciding games in their favour by scoring late.. late.. late to maintain their 100% start to this season.
Who’s Out?
Jarrad Branthwaite and Vitaliy Mykolenko continue to make progress but will not be available tomorrow.
David Moyes did appear to indicate in his pre-match press conference that there were a couple more players suffering from knocks.
Everton squad available vs Villa

Tactics and Formation
Everton will likely stick to the 4-2-3-1 they’ve used so far.

Starters (likelihood of starting rated out of 10)
Jordan Pickford – 9/10
James Garner – 8/10 Quietly plugging away wherever the gaffer has asked him to play.
Michael Keane – 8/10 Keane hasn’t put a foot wrong yet and should continue.
James Tarkowski – 8/10 He’s made some awful recent mistakes that he has to get over.
Jake O’Brien – 6/10 The Irishman stays on the pitch, despite an indifferent start for him.
Idrissa Gueye – 9/10
Merlin Röhl – 6/10 Moyes could use his energy and strength on the ball to clog up the middle.
Jack Grealish – 9/10
Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall – 8/10 KDH will likely need to play deeper to give the Blues strength in midfield.
Iliman Ndiaye – 7/10
Beto – 6/10 Beto was pretty bad last weekend against Aston Villa, and it is Barry’s turn to start. However, Beto’s bruising persona has made Van Dijk look ordinary in the past.
