Earlier today, Rutgers Athletics announced that they are searching for a RNIL Director, a leadership position in the university’s athletic department that will oversee Rutgers’ in-house NIL program, RNIL.
They will also be in charge of supporting all NIL-related operations in partnership with the Scarlet Assets Management Company. (SAMCO)
According to scarletknights.com, the Director of NIL will play a central role in advancing Rutgers’ rapidly expanding NIL infrastructure. The position will serve as the primary contact for all NIL activity, leading coordination across departments and partnerships. The role will also manage relationships with external NIL platforms while providing strategic and technical support to Rutgers student-athletes.
Key responsibilities include oversight of NIL-related sales operations, partnership strategies that grow revenue opportunities, and efficient delivery of NIL activations in full compliance with university, state, and NCAA guidelines. The Director of NIL will be responsible for guiding internal and external communication with student-athletes, coaches, staff, recruits, families, boosters, and local businesses.
SAMCO President and CEO Lisa Tirrell- “This role will create new pathways for corporate partnerships and ensure Rutgers is positioned to maximize the opportunities of the evolving NIL marketplace. It’s an investment that will elevate our department and deliver measurable value for our student-athletes, our partners, and our brand.”
The official job posting for the role that defines all of the ins and outs of the role can be found here.
This appears to be the next step in Rutgers Athletic Director Keli Zinn’s agenda to outfit the Rutgers athletic department with the proper staff and initiatives it needs to be successful in the new age of college athletics. Since she was hired back in July, Zinn has spearheaded the launch of RNIL and the Athletic Excellence Fund, while making several hires to expand and manage the department’s growing capabilities and responsibilities.
