Bayern Munich and Germany starlet Lennart Karl is repping Lionel Messi every time he steps onto the pitch. And it is not only through his fearless, entertaining style of play.
“Messi is on my left shinpad. He’s been my role model ever since I could play football – left-footed, small, a player who does incredible things with the ball. Having him with me gives me something to think about. It’s simply an incentive to work hard to make a name for myself at the highest level,” Karl said in a recent interview
(as captured by @iMiaSanMia).
The 18-year-old will not be featuring at this edition of the Men’s World Cup after a devastatingly cruel last-minute injury forced him out of the Germany camp. However, his idol will be there and — who knows? — perhaps in 2030, it will be Karl himself drawing the crowds with his magic.
