What is the story about?

After 54 holes at the Open Championship, Jackson Suber, our PGA Tour son, found himself four shots off the lead and tied for sixth place with Ludvig Åberg and Bryson DeChambeau heading into the final round.

Unfortunately, the leaks that showed at the end of Saturday’s round (two bogeys in the last four holes) carried over into Sunday, and Suber shot a 74 (+4) to finish -2 for the week. His 2-under score was good enough to get into a 12-way tie for 28th, earning him a cool $102,817 paycheck and 30.883

FedEx Cup points.

As of Sunday evening, Suber, also known as The Detective (iykyk), is 79th in the FedEx Cup standings, meaning he’s 9 spots out of the Top 70 and does not qualify for the St. Jude Championship in August. Getting in the Top 70 would secure his status on the PGA Tour for 2027, which is kind of a big deal.

The good news is he has three more tournaments over the next three weekends in which to make a move. Granted, that’s a travel schedule of Liverpool, England to Minneapolis, Minnesota (3M Open) to Detroit, Michigan (Rocket Classic) to Greensboro, North Carolina (Wyndham Championship), but such is the life of a Tour player trying to make it.

While this weekend didn’t go the way Suber wanted after a great 36-hole start, there were positives to take away as he heads into the three remaining tournaments. Here’s a list of notable players he beat:
