Temecula, CA’s Pechanga Resort Casino will host Manny Pacquiao Promotions’ first show on American soil, which sees promotional featherweight hope Lorenzo Parra face Elijah Pierce in a WBO final eliminator
on November 29th.
Venezuela’s Parra (23-1-1, 17 KO), unbeaten since a 2017 decision loss to standout countryman Yonfrez Parejo, was last seen fighting undefeated Omar Cande Trinidad to a draw on Fight Pass this past August. The press release calls him a “prospect,” which is a bit strong considering he’s 30 and has fought once in the past two years, but it’s nice to see an over-performing B-side get another opportunity.
Pierce (21-2, 17 KO) dropped well-aged decisions to Giovani Cabrera and Sulaiman Segawa before embarking on his current 12-fight winning streak, the highlights of which largely consist of guys who lost to notable fighters. That includes Tramaine Williams, Mike Plania, and most recently Michael Dasmarinas, who actually sat Pierce down in the first round before succumbing in the ninth.
Manny Pacquiao Jr is also set to make his pro debut after a brief and forgettable amateur run.
