Starting XI:
Oblak
Went the wrong way on Carlos Vícente’s equalizing penalty kick, leaving the keeper still in search of his first clean sheet this season — and disappointed after the match. 4
Llorente
With
Alavés sending their attacks down the righthand side early in the match, Llorente spent considerable effort working to contain Moussa Diarra and company. While Atlético was in possession, the 30-year-old pushed forward, adding an option out wide and attempting two shots — but his chemistry with Giuliano Simeone is still lacking. 5
Le Normand
Completed all 64 of his passes but still struggled in the air, winning only two of six duels. Still one of his better performances in recent months. 6
Lenglet
Getting his first start of the season, Lenglet struggled early positionally (his lack of awareness from a free kick led to the Alavés corner that culminated in the Basque side winning a penalty). But he made 16 passes into the final third and won five of seven total duels. He put in a well-placed tackle on Carlos Vícente to win the ball back in the middle of the pitch. 5
Hancko
Was moved to left-back for this match and again provided a strong defensive presence, preventing Alavés from gaining ground down the flank. Pushed forward sparingly, placing an effort into the side netting from a Julián Alvarez pass. 5.5

Giuliano Simeone
Struck a scrappy goal past his former team in the seventh minute, after he fought tooth and nail to win the ball in the box and stick a left-footed shot past Antonio Sivera — a never-say-die effort that brought the player success last season, and a positive sight to see after two subpar performances to open the season. 7
Johnny Cardoso
Picked up a yellow in the first half that conditioned his game. He won only three of nine ground duels and struggled with the responsibility of keeping the midfield together. Was taken off for Matteo Ruggeri in the second half. 4
Barrios
Acting as the team’s facilitator, Barrios maintained possession of the ball and was an active contributor while on defense. He won nine ground duels, and his five tackles were an additional highlight. 7
Almada
The midfielder did well to track back and aid Dávid Hancko in containing Alavés at the endline, but his low physical condition did not see him produce many moments of substance on the ball. 4.5
Sørloth
Gave away the penalty against Nahuel Tenaglia in the first half and later picked up a needless yellow card after pushing the same player. His aerial efforts in the final third were unsuccessful, and his movement off the ball was a shadow of what it was compared to the last match against Elche. 3

Alvarez
Logged two shots in the game, both of which failed to threaten Sivera in net. A quiet showing from the Argentine. 3.5
Substitutes:
Gallagher
Aggressive and hard-working out of possession, but missing something near the penalty area that could have resulted in a winning chance in front of net. 4.5
Ruggeri
Added some fresh legs into the team, a new option out wide. Was able to send in two crosses but neither had much venom on them. 4
Griezmann
Replaced Almada in the 73rd minute. Nearly found the winner late in the match, but was denied by the post. 4.5
Koke
Was able to distribute the ball and switch the point of attack after coming on for Giuliano, but picked up a silly yellow card in added time. 4
Raspadori
Came on for Julián Alvarez late on. Had limited touches on the ball but managed to scrape up a few shots when it came to him. 4.5
