As promised, the Falcons have released their new uniforms, bringing a swift end to the ill-fated era of the last editions. The Falcons had unveiled new uniforms in 2020, but the much-maligned sets were only in action for six seasons before Atlanta pulled the plug to deliver something new.
The team announced the new look at 10 a.m. sharp via a customarily slick video released on all their social media channels.
This confirms the jersey we saw leaked the other day was indeed the real deal. The new uniforms
have red home jerseys that are clean and simple with white pants, with away kits featuring white jerseys with red lettering and an option of gray or black pants. The team will likely still roll out the throwbacks fairly often to get their black jerseys in the mix, but they’re sticking with their current set of logos on black helmets with silver/gray facemasks.
They’re an improvement over the last edition. As an avowed throwback guy, I was hoping we’d see the full-time return to the old logo and look with either the red or black helmets to go with black jerseys and silver pants, but I wasn’t exactly expecting it. Those hoping for red helmets, like noted red helmet enthusiast Evan Birchfield, will likely be disappointed, as will those hoping for silver pants and sleeve stripes. While nothing about the new uniforms wows me, I do like the simplicity, the red jerseys, an the overall look and feel of the color combinations. This is a team with some distinct strengths in terms of their palette, and the new uniforms make good use of that without godawful lettering or too much going on for the jerseys.
We’ll have to see them action for a bit to really know how we all feel about them, but I’m breathing a sigh of relief that the Falcons took their look in a better direction. How are you feeling about the uniform unveiling?
