I wouldn’t blame anyone for turning off the television if they only watched the first three quarters of the Washington Mystics’ game against the Seattle Storm on Sunday. The Storm led for the majority of the game though never by double digits. But Washington held Seattle to just 28.6 percent shooting, outscored them 20-11, and that helped them win the game 84-79.
Shakira Austin led the Mystics with 27 points including going 2-of-4 for the three point line and scoring 10 points in the fourth quarter.
Sonia Citron added 19 more. Kiki Iriafen had a double double with 12 points and 13 rebounds.
For Seattle, Natasha Hiedeman scored 31 points and led all scorers. Hiedeman started hot and was a consistent scorer for the first three quarters, but only scored 4 points in the fourth quarter.
With this win, the Mystics move back up above .500 to 11-10 while the Storm fall to 6-19.
Washington’s next game is on Tuesday when they host the Toronto Tempo. Tip off is at 7:30 p.m. ET. See you then.
