Michael Olise is turning out to be one of the greatest signings any club in the top five European leagues has made within the past two seasons, as no one just quite expected how much of a positive impact
he would have at Bayern Munich after making his move from Crystal Palace. Ever since making the jump to the Bundesliga with Bayern from the Premier League with Palace, the French international has gone on to tally 25 goals and 29 assists from a total of 64 appearances for the German Rekordmeister and he shows absolutely no sign of slowing down any time soon.
His most recent of contributions came with his goal and brace of assists in Bayern’s 5-1 win over Pafos FC in the Champions League, taking his tally for this current season to 5 goals and 6 assists from Bayern’s 9 matches across all competitions thus far. He’s well and truly worth his weight in gold for Vincent Kompany and the reigning Bundesliga champions and there’s something to be said about the way he is able to remain increasingly humble the better he gets – it’s part of what makes him so likeable on and off the pitch.
It should come as no surprise that Olise has already been garnering interest from all over the top clubs throughout Europe, but his current Bayern contract runs through June 2029. The club has aims of keeping him in Munich long-term and will try to doo what they can not to have his head turned by outside offers.
Board member for sport Max Eberl recently echoed the sentiment of Bayern wanting Olise to be with the club for quite some time ahead of the weekend clash against Eintracht Frankfurt. “Michael has already made a big impact in his first season. He’s a player that fans come to the stadium to see; it’s simply a pleasure to watch him play. He still has over three and a half years left on his contract, and he will become an increasingly important player for FC Bayern, shaping the future of this team – and, in our opinion, the longer he stays, the better,” Eberl explained (via @iMiaSanMia).
Even when he was signed from Palace back in the summer of 2024, Bayern had to ward off offers from other clubs to convince him to come to Munich. “He had other offers, but we were able to show him the path he could take with us, explaining how he could become a key figure at FC Bayern and consistently win titles here. The signing of Michael Olise was based on a very strong conviction on both sides: We at FC Bayern were convinced that he is precisely the kind of player who will significantly contribute to our success in the coming years. And Michael was convinced of our sporting concept,” Eberl recalled.
Thankfully, Olise has turned out to be a huge success from the eyes of Eberl and the rest of the club’s front office and supervisory board. There were a lot of changes in a short period of time in the club’s front office along with the dismissal of Thomas Tuchel, which made transfer windows in recent seasons all the more difficult to navigate through. The club having identified, secured the signing of, and keeping Olise happy has been a testament to their eye for talent and the perfect type of player to be able to fit a certain profile perfectly.
