Well, that week could have gone better. At 4-6 for the second time in three weeks, it’s a matter of a few close misses. South Carolina star QB LaNorris Sellers getting hurt really tanked the over against Vandy, and Ohio State almost overcame 2.5 quarters of sludgy play but just missed a cover. Such is life.
At 13-17, it’s time to turn this ship in the right direction. As usual, I’m going with the lines on Thursday over at FanDuel Sportsbook, which you can find here.

And now, on with this week’s picks…
FLORIDA +7.5 at Miami
I don’t know what kind of Florida we can expect, but I do think they have a very good defense and the potential on offense to compete. Florida covers, but Miami wins a close one.
ILLINOIS +6.5 at Indiana
Indiana is playing well at home against poor competition, but Illinois already has a lopsided road win over a Power Four team in Duke. I think the Illini at least keep this close in Bloomington.
Auburn at OKLAHOMA -6.5
I think the Sooners are one of the most impressive teams this year as far as passing the eyeball test on both sides of the ball. I think they make Jackson Arnold’s return to Norman a rude one.
NC STATE +3.5 at Duke
The Wolfpack appears to be playing better lately, while the Blue Devils come in off a loss at Tulane. I’ll take the points in what should be a close game in Durham.
MICHIGAN -2.5 at Nebraska
I’m still not sure what to make of either team, but Michigan has the talent edge and will grind their way to a physical win in Lincoln.
SAM HOUSTON STATE +39.5 at Texas
The Longhorns appear to have little fight right now as they go through the rest of their post-Ohio State soft non-conference slate before SEC play begins. They win, handily, but I don’t like them beating anyone by 40+ right now. We’ll see if this is the week they finally snap out of it.
MICHIGAN STATE +18.5 at USC
I’ve been high on USC early this season, going 2-0 through the first two weeks picking them at home. But now, they got a conference game against Sparty. They win, but not quite by this line.
Kent State at Florida State; OVER 56.5
I think the Noles might get to this line themselves, but 45.5 is a big number for them to lay. I feel better about the point total getting over with some late garbage time scores.
UAB at Tennessee; UNDER 69.5
That’s a super high total, and while the Vols’ offense was great last week, they could be coming off a hangover from a brutal OT loss to Georgia. I don’t think this game gets quite that high combined.
Temple at GEORGIA TECH -23.5
The Jackets look like the real deal and a potential ACC threat this season. Temple got boat raced by Oklahoma, and I think Tech does just enough to get past this mark.
