The United States Men’s National Team have had a great international window, with three wins in three matches thus far. They hope to conclude the window with a fourth and final win tonight when they face Canada in St. Paul. The USMNT want to carry the thrill of the big win against Mexico over the weekend, but they know when they face Jesse Marsch and Canada, they have to be ready.
This has been a successful window for the newcomers to the U.S. national team, and they now go from an intense rivalry
to a different kind. The competition with our neighbors to the north has intensified in the past 5 years, and once again the word “friendly” doesn’t mean much. But, it’s one more chance during this window for players to leave a lasting impression on the fanbase as well as head coach Mauricio Pochettino. Seeing how they have played against Peru, Chile, and Mexico, the team should be ready for one more fight.
Canada has also had a good window. They haven’t allowed a goal in wins against Chile and Peru and would love a rivalry win to cap the break. Jesse Marsch recently added more fuel to the fire by rehashing the Folarin Balogun red card debate from the World Cup. That could mean more fireworks tonight as the teams close out the September-October international window on the field.
