Florida State and Georgia announced on Thursday that the home-and-home series scheduled between the two schools had been cancelled, reflecting both league’s commitment to playing nine conference games.
As part of a public records request, Tomahawk Nation received a copy of the cancellation agreement between the schools. It confirms both schools are negotiating with Tampa for a 2028 neutral site game.
The parties have mutually agreed to terminate the contract and all of the provisions of that contract,
including payment requirements. Despite the cancellation, the parties shall work in good faith to contract for a neutral site football game between the University of Georgia and Florida State University to be played in Tampa, Florida in 2028

Sources have told Tomahawk Nation that the game is actively being courted by streaming outlets like Netflix, similar to the deal struck by Amazon Prime to broadcast Duke basketball games.
The two programs haven’t faced off against each other in the regular season since 1965 (a 10-3 FSU win), with the most recent three matchups in the series being bowl games — two straight Georgia wins (2023 Orange Bowl, 2003 Sugar Bowl) preceded by a 17-17 tie in 1984.
