Bayern Munich’s backline suffered many injuries this season, and that is not exactly a secret. Many players missed extended chunks of time, and caused heavy relying on core players in particular. Bayern Munich ahas already confirmed they will be addressing depth as an issue and it seems like they already have their eyes on a potential target.
Coming from reports by Tz reporter Kessler Phillip, Bayern have targeted Benfica’s Tomás Araújo, who can play at both centre-back and right-back. Reports also
state that talks with the player already took place weeks ago.
Is it possible that nothing will come out of this? Possibly. But a player that can play at two different roles in the backline is an incredibly attractive option for teams, especially Bayern Munich. However, this factor doesn’t mean that the team needs one less player because one can play in multiple different roles. Let’s hope that is a lesson that Bayern have learned.
On Transfermarkt, the 23-year-old is currently valued at 28 million euros, which wouldn’t be a big sum to pay if the player can develop into a key player at Bayern. It is also possible that this could be invested in one or two younger players that can add even more depth, and fetch a larger selling price in the future.
