Mark Orphey and Bo Mascoe are reunited.
The former Rutgers Scarlett Knights cornerbacks coach and cornerback spent two seasons in Piscataway together and will now have the opportunity to spend two seasons together on the Forty
Acres after Mascoe committed to the Texas Longhorns on Tuesday on a visit to Austin.
Mascoe is ranked as the No. 91 overall prospect and the No. 4 cornerback in the 247Sports transfer portal rankings.
A consensus three-star prospect ranked as the No. 845 player nationally and the No. 85 cornerback in the 247Sports Composite rankings, Mascoe signed with Rutgers in the 2023 recruiting class after also taking an official visit to Boston College. Other offers for the Florida product included Iowa, Iowa State, Florida Atlantic, Marshall, Western Kentucky, and Miami (Ohio).
At Rutgers, the 5’11, 185-pounder played in one game as a freshman while redshirting before becoming a part-time starter in 2024, starting in four of the team’s 13 games and recording 50 tackles with five pass breakups, an interception, and a fumble recovery.
Mascoe became a full-time starter in 2025, notching 53 tackles, two tackles for loss, two forced fumbles, four passes broken up, and one interception. Pro Football Focus didn’t grade Mascoe out as a strong run defender, but he is a sure tackler and graded out well in coverage despite allowing 346 yards and four touchdowns on 28 receptions.
Texas is looking to add a starting-caliber player at cornerback after Manny Muhammad declared early for the 2026 NFL Draft and Jaylon Guilbeau exhausted his eligibility.
