Speculating on the rumors surrounding pro wrestling is a favored pastime of many fans, perhaps second only to actually watching the matches. In this daily column, we take a look at the latest rumors being
churned out by the pro wrestling rumor mill.
Important reminder: Rumors are just that — rumors. None of this has been confirmed as fact, it’s just circulating around the pro wrestling rumor mill. We track rumor accuracy in a weekly feature called Rumor Look Back you can find here. Remember, take it all with a grain of salt.
Rumors for the Day:
- Betting markets are split between two possible winners of next month’s Men’s Royal Rumble match. Oddschecker has Roman Reigns as the favorite, and say 64% of last week’s Men’s Rumble bets were on Reigns. Bron Breakker is in second at Oddschecker, but Breakker’s now the favorite at betonline, where Roman had the best odds when lines came out in early December.
- The Santos Escobar AAA push we heard about when he re-signed with WWE is expected “very soon”, per Self Made Pro.
- A related one from Self Made Pro: Chad Gable will be back “very, very, very soon”, and “he’s going to come back as the top heel” for AAA.
- Netflix’s Vice President of Sports Gabe Spitzer told John Ourand the streamer is working on a Hulk Hogan documentary they think “can be a good one”. Spitzer said they’d been filming ”been filming with Hogan for 20 hours” at the time of his death.
- While they’d previously heard that Anna Jay’s AEW contract was up at the end of this year, Fightful‘s sources now say Jay’s deal expires in Spring 2026.
- Rudolph Johnson at Reindeer Insider is reporting that WWE and Netflix are in talks to develop Christmas: Unreal. The proposed show would take viewers behind the scenes and into the lives of shopping mall Santas, while promising to expose the “so-called myth of Saint Nicholas.”
- Meanwhile, our own sources at the North Pole say Santa Claus contacted WWE a few weeks ago to offer Triple H anything he wanted for Christmas in exchange for John Cena winning his retirement match. When WWE legal responded with a formal request for Santa to change his middle name to “Non-compete” for one year and not deliver Christmas presents to Tony Khan during that time, Claus refused. However, multiple elves say Claus got the last laugh when he convinced Triple H to go with Austin Theory for the mystery masked man reveal on Raw. There’s no word yet on whether any of this will impact The Ryback’s chances of getting that Hot Wheels City Ultimate Garage playset that was at the top of his Christmas list this year.
