Good morning to all as we hit the final big roster day of the 2025 NFL season: The NFL trade deadline. After Tuesday at 4 PM Eastern, teams will no longer be able to freely trade players between each other. With every team having at least played eight games, the NFL’s midseason deadline is often full of a lot of rumors.
The Cleveland Browns have seen a wide variety of rumors swirling around their roster, for good reason, including wild speculation that DE Myles Garrett could be traded. On Monday,
Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones stated he had a trade worked out shortly after Browns DT Mike Hall Jr. made an ominous, since-deleted, tweet.
The two were easy to connect as a potential matchup for a trade. DT Shelby Harris, S Rayshawn Jenkins, and Hall were noted as possible targets for the Cowboys, but Mary Kay Cabot disputed the potential of Hall being dealt:
While Jones’ statements before Monday Night Football seemed clear that a deal was already agreed upon, Dallas’ owner backtracked after his team was beaten 27-17 by the Arizona Cardinals:
As we noted in our initial piece on Jones’ statements, the Cowboys owner noted that another team could jump in and take the player that they are hoping to make a deal for:
So what do we know?
- Jerry Jones said a trade was going to happen today
- Mike Hall Jr. made a tweet, then deleted it
- Mary Kay Cabot says Hall is not being dealt, but nothing further
- The Cowboys were mostly uncompetitive in Week 9’s Monday Night Football
- Jerry Jones backtracked on his earlier statements about a deal for sure happening
Moments after posting this update, Dallas did get a trade completed for a defender:
What do you think about an owner being so outspoken, so often, especially around roster moves? Do you think the Cowboys will make another deal after the Wilson trade and will the Browns be involved?
