I’m scheduling this before Friday night’s game between the San Francisco Giants and the Milwaukee Brewers, which I can only imagine went poorly, based on recent results (and not-so-recent results) for each team. But hey, maybe they surprised me, in which case today’s game is for a series win! That sure would be nice.
Regardless of whether the Giants are trying to win or even the series, they’re sending their ace to the mound, as righty Logan Webb makes his league-leading 27th start of the year. Webb is 11-9
with a 3.19 ERA, a 2.56 FIP, and has 175 strikeouts against just 35 walks in 160.2 innings. He leads the Majors in both innings pitched and batters faced, with a devilish 666. He was spectacular his last time out, pitching seven shutout innings against the Tampa Bay Rays.
On the other side is righty Freddy Peralta who, like Webb, was an All-Star this year and, like Webb, has made an league-best 26 starts this season. Peralta has been sensational this season, with a 15-5 record, a 2.78 ERA, a 3.70 FIP, and 154 strikeouts against 53 walks in 142.2 innings. He’s thrown six scoreless innings in back-to-back starts.
Enjoy the game! Go Giants! Do something decent for once!
