What is the story about?
Barcelona manager Hansi Flick opted to take off Pedri at half-time of Wednesday’s Champions League tie with Atletico.
The move was something of a surprise, with Flick revealing afterwards why he hooked his midfield talisman.
“Pedri has some issues, nothing major, but we don’t want to take risks because we need him right now,” he said afterwards.
According to AS, Pedri was feeling discomfort in the back of his thigh and will now undergo tests. The current thinking is that he’s likely to sit out Barca’s
next game against Espanyol.
The hope is that Pedri will be fit for the return leg against Atletico, while Frankie de Jong is also expected to be available after an injury layoff.
