Mexico has announced the call up list for the final training camp before the U17 World Cup which will be taking place next year. Mexico has announced 22 players of which the final list will come out for the tournament
that takes place from November 3rd to the 27th in Qatar.
The call up list by National team coach Carlos Cariño was the following:
Goalkeepers: Abdon Turrubiantes (Leon), Santiago Lopez (Toluca), Matias Velazquez (Santos Laguna)
Defenders: Jhonnatan Grajales (Chivas), Felix Contreras (Real Salt Lake), Adrian Villa (Pachuca), Michael Corona (Leon), Bryan Salazar (Tigres), Ian Olvera (Tijuana), Jose Navarro (Pachuca)
Midfielders: Iñigo Borgio (Leganes), Gael Garcia (Chivas), Oscar Pineda (Chicago Fire), Jorge Sanchez (Monterrey), Karin Hernandez (Leon), Kenneth Esquivel (FC Juarez)
Forwards: Maximo Reyes (Santos Laguna), Aldo De Nigris Jr (Monterrey), Lucca Vuoso (Santos Laguna), Luis Gamboa (Atlas), Jose Mancilla (Pumas), Alex Gutierrez (Cruz Azul)
The most notable omission, which shouldn’t be notable, is the omission of sensation Gilberto Mora. Mora was eligible to play in the U17 World Cup but after his performances in the 2025 Gold Cup and the 2025 U20 World Cup, it was deemed that he had already moved on and will not be called for the U17 tournament in a very logical decision. The other notable omissions were Viggo Ortiz and Daniel Nuñez who might have not been released because of participation with their clubs. Nuñez is especially notable since he was called up for the last tour of Europe where they played three matches (and lost all three).
Mexico was placed in Group F of the 2025 U17 World Cup. Mexico will make their debut against South Korea on November 4th. They will then face off against the Ivory Coast on November 7th before closing out their group stage against Switzerland on November 10th. All matches will be played in the Aspire Zone in Al Rayyan in Qatar.
