The Portland Thorns announced today that goalkeeper Morgan Messner has signed a two-year extension contract with the club through 2028.
“She has been a valuable member of our competitive goalkeeping unit, and we look forward to supporting her continued development over the next few years,” President and General Manager of Soccer Operations Jeff Agoos said.
After Messner arrived at the club in 2025 as a non-roster invitee and has continued to grow and develop since.
The 26-year-old made her debut in the 2026 season opener, where she kept a clean sheet, something only Nadine Angerer and Bella Bixby have been able to do in club history. The clean sheet in the home opener against Seattle Reign made her performances even more impressive as it was only the second time in club history that Portland kept two consecutive clean sheets.
“Morgan stepped up at the start of the year when the opportunity was presented to her to lead the backline and her performances in goal were critical to helping us start the season off strong,” Agoos added.
