Nick Woltemade is facing an uncertain future at Newcastle United after a difficult debut season in Tyneside.
“Nick Woltemade has experienced an extremely difficult first season as a Newcastle United player, it would be fair to say,” Football Insider reported.
The striker arrived last summer for a significant fee but has struggled to secure consistent minutes, particularly in recent weeks. As much as he’s expected to be Germany’s starting No. 9 at the 2026 World Cup, and for unexplainable reasons, the 24-year-old
has 25 minutes in the Magpies’ last four Premier League games (three losses, one win), including none in the win over Brighton.
That lack of involvement has contributed to growing frustration around his role in the squad.
“According to the Daily Mail, while sources have played down ideas of the striker wanting to leave, Woltemade is frustrated by his lack of playing time and believes he deserves a more prominent role,” the report adds. “Given the amount of money spent on his signature, Newcastle simply cannot afford for his signing not to work out.”
There also seems to be some internal concern about how external interest could develop in the coming months, which might help Newcastle a bit if they cannot decide on what to do, as long as a reasonable offer arrives at their table.
“Football Insider understands that Newcastle are putting contingency plans in place for the worst-case scenario,” the report says, referencing a potential sale.
