CHAMPAIGN, Ill. — Benjamin Berrouet, the No. 21 prospect in the class of 2028 and a composite five-star recruit according to 247Sports, will reportedly be taking an official visit to Illinois on Nov. 5.
The report comes from Dushawn London, a national basketball recruitment reporter for 247Sports and CBS.
Berrouet is a power forward from Dallas, currently playing his high school ball for Dynamic Prep in Irving, Texas.
He measures in at 6’7” and 240 pounds, and is currently ranked as the No. 2 power
forward in his class.
Despite being born and raised in America, Berrouet is of Latvian descent and helped bring the country to its first-ever FIBA U16 title.
His mother, Lāsma Jēkabsone, represented Latvia in youth competition as well and even played Division I basketball at Florida International University.
While Berrouet has 35 Division I offers of his own, ranging from Kansas to Michigan and a lot of blue-bloods in between, he currently only has visits scheduled to Kentucky and UCLA in October, and now Illinois in November.
The Illini have been busy recently trying to build up their 2028 recruiting class, as they hosted several recruits over this past weekend.
