Game notes
- Finally free from the unfriendly confines of Canada, the Bruins are back at home tonight to face the Carolina Hurricanes for the second time in around two weeks. The Bruins won that November 1 game, also at TD Garden, by a score of 2-1.
- The Hurricanes lost their last game, a 4-3 overtime decision against Edmonton in Raleigh on Saturday.
- Many people (and by that, I mean none) are calling this the Brandon Bussi Revenge Game, as the former P-Bruin is now a member of the Hurricanes after being claimed off waivers in October. Yes, he was on the roster for that Nov. 1 game, but this one is the Revenge Game. Don’t get mad at me, I don’t make the rules.
- The Hurricanes are 6-3-1 in their last ten, with a nice four-game winning streak sandwiched by some win-loss-win consistency.
- This game will be a match-up of two pretty potent offenses, as the Hurricanes have the league’s second-best scoring offense (3.67 GF/G), while the Bruins somewhat surprisingly slot in at fifth best in the league (3.35 GF/G).
- Charlie McAvoy traveled home with the Bruins on Saturday night, but his status for tonight’s game remains up in the air (as of Sunday night, at least). It was a pretty gnarly injury for McAvoy, and it doesn’t make a ton of sense to rush him back if he’s banged up.
- The Bruins will likely be without Viktor Arvidsson tonight as well, with Marco Sturm saying the forward “will be out” after he left the Montreal game early.
- David Pastrnak continues to be hot for the B’s, with 4G-4A-8PTS totals in his last five games.
- I follow the NHL fairly closely, but I feel like Carolina has a lot of “wait, he plays for them?” guys. Nikolaj Ehlers, K’Andre Miller, Logan Stankoven, etc. You can add former Bruin Taylor Hall to that list, and he’s had a decent season thus far with 10 points (4G-6A) in 18 games.
- Tonight will be the B’s last home game before American Thanksgiving, as they’ll head to California for the standard West Coast swing, followed by a stop on SCENIC LONG ISLAND. They’ll host the New York Rangers for a Black Friday Matinée.
See
ya tonight!
