Just a day after outdueling Bayern Munich and securing an agreement with Newcastle United for attacker Anthony Gordon, FC Barcelona is making a strong push to get Atlético Madrid striker Julián Álvarez.
Transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano had all of the details:
🚨🔵🔴 Barcelona are preparing first official bid for Julián Álvarez, to be sent soon — and without any players included.
Julián informed Atléti of desire to leave after rejecting a new deal months ago.
❗️ After direct meeting with agent & intermediaries,
Barça will send a bid.
Romano also checked in later with more information:
🚨🔵🔴 More on Julián Álvarez story reported earlier: the official bid has not been submitted yet, it will be sent in the next days.
It will NOT include any players as revealed, and final fee will be clarified as soon as it’s sent (could be in the region of €100m).
How is FC Barcelona — who is supposed to be financially strapped — doing this? It is a great question, but the Catalans deserve credit for identifying targets and then aggressively pursuing them.
