Former New York Giants defensive tackle Dexter Lawrence is officially a member of the Cincinnati Bengals.
Lawrence has officially signed a one-year, $28 million extension, per Adam Schefter of ESPN.
The extension ties Lawrence to the Bengals for the next three seasons. And while $28 million makes Lawrence among the highest paid tackles on the NFL, neither the length of the extension nor the number are the massive numbers many were expecting.
The Giants and Bengals have also agreed to the terms of the trade.
The Bengals are officially sending the 10th overall pick to the Giants in exchange for Lawrence.
The Giants now hold the fifth and 10th overall picks, giving them control of 20% of the top 10 picks.
The interesting part of the Lawrence extension is that it does not appear to touch the next two years of his deal, which he was thought to be unhappy with.
