We’re two weeks removed from the NFL Draft and just over a week beyond the window for the compensatory pick formula portion of free agency. Any signing the Seattle Seahawks make moving forward will not potentially cancel out a comp pick, so there’s no need to worry about the Dante Fowler Jr acquisition.
With the 2027 draft advertised as deeper, having as many picks as possible was a clear goal for John Schneider and the Seahawks staff. Good news! Even after giving up next year’s fourth-rounder to
move back into this year’s fifth round for Beau Stephens, Seattle’s treasure chest of picks is plentiful.
Seattle Seahawks’ tentative 2027 draft capital
- Round 1
- Round 2
- Round 3
- Round 4 (Boye Mafe projected comp pick)*
- Round 5
- Round 5 (Kenneth Walker projected comp pick)
- Round 5 (Riq Woolen projected comp pick)
- Round 5 (Coby Bryant projected comp pick)
- Round 6
- Round 7
- Round 7 (conditional pick from Michael Jerrell trade)
I think the Seahawks can live with 11 picks heading into next April. Comp picks aren’t awarded until shortly before the following draft, so while the Seahawks definitely have four comp picks, where they’ll fall in the draft is dependent on how this upcoming season plays out.
We’re working on the assumption that Seattle traded away its native fourth round pick, otherwise there would have to be some sort of conditions attached to the pick sent to the Cleveland Browns.
There might not be as much need for John Schneider to trade for more draft picks when you’ve already got 11 to play with.
