Barcelona midfielder Marc Bernal has revealed what Hansi Flick told his players at half-time of Wednesday’s Champions League clash with FC Copenhagen.
The Catalans went into the game needing to win to secure a place in the top eight but suffered an early setback when they went behind and couldn’t find an equaliser before half-time.
Flick also had to change things at the break with Bernal sent on in place of a dizzy Garcia, and he has revealed the advice the Barca boss gave his players at the interval.
“The gaffer told us at half-time to be patient, that the spaces would start to open up,” he told Jijantes.
“We haven’t looked at anything [scores]. We knew that if we did our job, the rest would fall into place. I’m now at 100% and it’s the gaffer’s call if I start.”
Flick also spoke out after the match and made it clear he was not impressed with his team’s opening 45 minutes.
“At the start of the first half I wasn’t happy with the team’s performance, but the second half went better. We have to come out from the start like in the first, we have to improve,” he said after the game.
Barcelona did manage to successfully come back to take the three points. It’s the eighth time this season the Catalans have turned things around after going behind.
