Last night, the first free agency domino fell, as the Seattle Mariners reportedly came to terms with first baseman Josh Naylor, bringing back one of the key Trade Deadline additions from the team that came closest to reaching a World Series than any other in franchise history. The terms: five years and somewhere between $90-$100M. Has the offseason now begun in earnest?
Regardless, we’ll still have plenty of reading material for you today on the site! We’ll start off with two from Peter, first on solving
the Yankees’ shortstop issue with (perhaps former) division rival Bo Bichette, and then grading Luis Gil’s shaky follow-up to his AL Rookie of the Year-winning campaign. Later, keep an eye out for Jake on revisiting the PSA staff’s 2025 preseason predictions from March, Madison looking at the latest Reacts poll results, and Jeremy when the roll call on the BBWAA’a 2025 Hall of Fame ballot is revealed.
Questions/Prompts:
1. Were you surprised by Naylor’s deal with the Mariners? How do you think it will affect the rest of the free agent market?
2. The identiy of MLB’s flat-out best player of the 2010s is probably well-known, but which player would say most defined the decade?
*It can be the same answer if you really think so! I’m just curious and there’s not a lot of material today.
