Jon Jones is begging Dana White to headline UFC White House opposite Alex Pereira.
Unfortunately for “Bones,” there’s a much bigger fight on the horizon, assuming Islam Makhachev is able to defeat Jack
Della Maddalena atop the UFC 322 pay-per-view (PPV) event this weekend in New York. Though it all depends on whether to not lightweight champion Ilia Topuria plans to make good on this promise.
“I think right now, Topuria and Islam is the biggest fight, not Jon Jones and Pereira,” former UFC 155-pound champion, Khabib Nurmagomedov, said on Weighing In. “It’s still a big fight, but not on that level. I don’t think it’s same level.”
Nurmagomedov, who also coaches Makhachev, expects the UFC White House lineup to feature predominantly American talent.
“I think if you’re making White House fight, it has to be more American fighters,” Nurmagomedov continued. “If a Georgian fighter fights against a Russian fighter, it’s not interesting in front of White House. It has to be something like American fighters representing country, fighting against other guys.”
No better way to impress all those “dignitaries.”
