The USWNT is set to begin a year that will answer questions about the state of the team and where it stands within growing competition in women’s soccer. The team will have to answer that question for the foreseeable future without Olivia Moultrie as ESPN reported the midfielder has a torn ACL. According to the Portland Thorns, she suffered the injury in training and at 20 years old faces a long recovery.
Moultrie has been a rising star for the USWNT since making her debut in 2023 as an 18 year-old.
During that time, she has increasingly been in the picture for the national team with 18 appearances, including seven this year.
She has mainly been a backup option in attacking midfield behind Rose Lavelle starting and Moultrie along with Croix Bethune pushing Jaedyn Shaw for the next option on the depth chart. The USWNT will be without her as it prepares for World Cup qualifying through the Concacaf W Championship held from November 27 to December 5, 2026.
