There was never much doubt about the decision, but as Friday’s deadline drew closer, it was easy to think, well…maybe?
Well…no.
Cameron Boozer will be entering June’s NBA Draft, and rightly so. It’s hard to think of anyone, ever who had a better freshman year. Patrick Ewing had a more dominant freshman year at Georgetown, but was he anywhere near this polished?
He was not.
Boozer plays like a 28-year-old, not an 18-year-old. His potential is huge.
As for Duke…while it’d be lovely to have him back, the
Blue Devils should be fine. With the next Cameron on deck in freshman Cameron Williams, Pat Ngongba, Dame Sarr, Drew Scharnowski, Maxime Meyer, and Bryson Howard, the Blue Devils have a tremendous amount of talent on hand.
Anyway, best of luck to Boozer as he finds his next gym. We’ll be following his progress with great interest. Watching him this year has been one of best experiences ever in Cameron.
