Major League Wrestling (MLW) and Tessa Blanchard recently made headlines when the promotion announced the controversial star would be wrestling for them at a September 12 event in Charleston, South Carolina.
However, signs now point to that appearance having been possibly scratched. Mike Johnson of PWInsiderreported that all mentions of Blanchard have been scrubbed from MLW’s website, including the press statement about her working the Charleston event.
Tessa had made press rounds to promote the appearance,
including speaking to TMZ’s Inside The Ring about her ultimate goal of winning the MLW women’s championship currently held by Shotzi Blackheart.
“Heavy is the crown, but legacy isn’t handed to you… it’s forged under pressure. I’ve earned my place as one of the best in the world at what I do, but I’m not coming to MLW to rest on the Blanchard name,” she was quoted as saying in the promotion’s press release. “MLW is bringing some of the purest, hardest-hitting action in the sport today, and the Undeniable Diamond belongs right at the top of it.”
Earlier this year, Blanchard left TNA when she was reportedly asked to choose between them and Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL). At the time, she said her heart was in Mexico.
Following the news of Blanchard’s MLW appearance, CMLL release its own statement that affirmed she was still signed with the company and was only scheduled for the one MLW date.
MLW has not released any official word on whether or not the deal for Blanchard is off. She also hasn’t commented on the matter, but her Instagram page still contains the original announcement she shared earlier this month.
