Welcome to SB Nation Reacts, a survey of fans across the NCAA. Throughout the year we ask questions of the most plugged-in Nebraska fans and fans across the country.
Nothing fancy this week, folks.
The undefeated defending national champion #5/#7 Indiana Hoosiers come to Lincoln to face the undefeated, unranked Nebraska Cornhuskers. Should Nebraska pull the upset, that “unranked” descriptor will change quickly come Sunday.
However, the “are they ready to take the next step” Question has had mixed reviews
on the way to their 5-0 record. They took care of business in workmanlike manner against their non-con slate of Ohio, Bowling Green and North Dakota. They then got mostly high marks in an imperfect – but “got a convincing Big 10 road win” manner – against Michigan State in East Lansing.
Then there was the Maryland Mess.
Which team do we believe in? The one which found themselves trailing 16-7 after giving up 200+ yards in the 1st quarter against the Terps? Or the one who went on a 41-7 tear after that quarter and did it while struggling to keep their cool amidst one of the most unhinged, atrocious performances ever by a Big 10 referee crew, and, brother, tell me that isn’t an incredibly high bar to clear??
One school of thought is, you have to respect a defense who managed stiffen three times in their territory to hold Maryland to three field goals, as well as for once holding it together and not only keeping a game like that in range, but then also running away with it.
The other is that if they have a start like that against the Hoosiers, this game will be over with by halftime, let alone a 41-7 run against Indiana being on the table.
