For the first time since 2018, UConn is the No. 1 overall seed in the NCAA Tournament. The Huskies were revealed as the top seed in the field of 68, headlining the Fort Worth 1 Region.
They’ll take on 16-seed UTSA in the first round on Saturday and are slated to face the winner of 8-seed Iowa State and 9-seed Syracuse in the second round on Monday.

The rest of the region features
2-seed Vanderbilt, 3-seed Ohio State, 4-seed North Carolina, 5-seed North Carolina, 6-seed Notre Dame and 11-seed Fairfield. If chalk holds, the Huskies will play former UConn player and assistant Shea Ralph in the Elite Eight.
UTSA is making its third all-time appearance in the big dance after winning the American Conference Tournament despite a sixth-place finish during the regular season. This will be the first meeting between the Huskies and UTSA.
UConn is the No. 1 overall seed for the first time since 2018 and the 15th time in program history (1995, 1997, 2000, 2002, 2003, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2018). The Huskies are on the 1-line for the 23rd tournament in 38 appearances, though they haven’t led a region since 2021.
Elsewhere in the bracket, Carla Berube and Princeton are a 9-seed while Villanova — the only other Big East team to make it — is a 10-seed. Both are in the Sacramento 2 Regional.
This season, UConn played eight other teams that made the field of 68: 2-seeds Iowa and Michigan, 3-seed Ohio State and Louisville, 6-seed Notre Dame, 9-seed USC as well as 10-seeds Tennessee and Villanova.
