AJ Williams officially cut his list to 10 schools on Monday, and Kentucky Basketball is included among the programs he will choose from. Williams was previously the top-ranked player in the class of 2028 before deciding to move up to the class of 2027.
On the list, in addition to Kentucky, are Georgia, North Carolina, Georgia Tech, Mississippi State, Arkansas, BYU, Auburn, Duke, and Illinois.
Williams is currently ranked No. 5 overall by both 247 Sports and ESPN, and No. 4 overall by Rivals. He is a 6-foot-7
small forward from Eagles Landing Christian Academy in McDonough, GA.
The talented forward has already checked off a few visits to three of the schools in his top 10: Duke, Auburn, and Georgia Tech. He plans to schedule visits to more schools, potentially including Kentucky.
Last year, in his sophomore season at Eagles Landing, he averaged 31.8 points per game and 12.7 rebounds per game before electing to reclassify to the class of 2027.
On the EYBL circuit over the summer, playing for Team CP3, he averaged 19.3 points, 7.9 assists, and 1.1 assists per game, shooting 41.8% from the field and 31.1% from 3-point range. Williams also played for Team USA at the FIBA U17 AmeriCup, where he and his teammates won a gold medal.
His game isn’t super flashy, but very effective. He uses his size to get to the rim and knock down shots from all over. He can get to his spot with the best of them and has high-flying ability while playing with his blinders on, playing a focused brand of basketball while doing his best to help his team out on the boards.
Mark Pope and Kentucky just offered AJ Williams on September first, throwing their hat into the ring much later than most, so we’ll see if Pope and company have what it takes to snag the prized recruit at the last minute.
