The first time Harry Kane and Thomas Tuchel worked together at Bayern Munich was not as fortuitous. Now Thomas Tuchel has been brought in as the manager for the England national team. Could this time around
be different? After a flawless qualifying campaign, the Three Lions look like serious contenders at next year’s World Cup with Thomas Tuchel at the helm.
Harry Kane recently commented on working with Thomas Tuchel previously, and just how influential the German manager was in him joining the German club.
“He [Tuchel] was the main reason why I ended up going to Bayern Munich, first and foremost. I love his energy, I love what he wanted to do and how he wanted to play. So, having that relationship from the first moment I met him sets you on a good path. I think when he got the job, he very much saw me as a big leader in the group, and someone who was going to help him in many ways with some of the players, some of the staff, getting to know the culture, getting to know a lot of the good things we’d done, how to keep those moments,” said Kane, as captured via @iMiaSanMia.
Tuchel is known for being a title winner, who pulls in trophies, as showcased by his highly successful campaigns with several different clubs in the Champions League. While Tuchel didn’t deliver on his expectations with Bayern Munich, all the signs are pointing in the right direction with England.
Thomas Tuchel’s ability to get the best out of Kane will be a massive discussion point at the upcoming World Cup. While Kane was successful under Tuchel at Bayern Munich, it would seem as though Vincent Kompany might be the right manager to get the best out of the English striker. Nonetheless, Tuchel and Kane will both have the opportunity to achieve the sport’s greatest trophy, a feat not yet accomplished by either in their careers thus far.
If the World Cup qualifiers were any indication of what’s to come, both Kane and Tuchel passed with flying colors after a tremendous campaign that saw England go the entire campaign without conceding and Harry Kane scoring 8 times. Is this the tournament the Three Lions finally see it come home?
