It’s Week 5 and the Washington Commanders are returning home after playing in London. The loss to the Colts put them at 1-3 for the season, and in must-win territory for their third division game in the first five games. The Giants are coming to town and they have lone control of first place in the NFC East for the first time since 2015! They are led by QB Jameis Winston after Jaxson Dart was lost for the season with a knee injury. The Commanders have their own QB injury issues with Jayden Daniels
returning this week from another elbow dislocation, and Marcus Mariota suffering another MCL sprain last week.
The Washington Commanders injury report continues to be impressively long, and that will affect this week’s game and roster. Six players were ruled out on Friday, including WR Stefon Diggs who has three TDs this season. Terry McLaurin missed the London game with a hamstring injury and is questionable this week. The Commanders receiving production will be a combination of backups, running backs, and hopefully tight ends. Rachaad White returns this week to help with rushing and receiving, and he’s the only Commanders player with receiving yards/TDs odds which is a wild thing to type.
This game is critical for Washington and Jayden Daniels as he makes his return with a brace that he will be wearing for the rest of the season. This will be a good test for his ability to play with the brace limiting his non-throwing arm, and also for his playing style following more time missed due to injury. I’m betting on David Blough getting Jayden Daniels back into a comfortable groove, and the Commanders keeping the NFC East competitive.
