QB | Chiefs
Age: 29
2024 rank: 1After the Chiefs’ loss in Super Bowl LIX, the league’s most talented quarterback will have plenty of motivation to showcase that he can still be a better version of himself. Mahomes should also have more of his best targets — Travis Kelce
, Isiah Pacheco, Rashee Rice, Xavier Worthy and Hollywood Brown — on the field together in 2025. — Nate TaylorSignature stat: Mahomes, a three-time Super
Bowl champion, has amassed 46 touchdown passes in the playoffs. That’s the second most all time after Tom Brady’s 88.
2025 projection: 4,371 yards, 30 TDs, 12 INTs (73 carries, 369 rushing yards)
2025 Best NFL Quarterbacks: Patrick Mahomes, Lamar Jackson Lead Top 10 Rankings | FOX Sports
T-1. Patrick Mahomes, Kansas City Chiefs
Henry McKenna: When you win two of the last three Super Bowls, you’re clearly one of the league’s best players. Statistically, it wasn’t always pretty last year, but Mahomes and the Chiefs somehow finished atop their division and conference. This year, Kansas City’s roster might be even better-built to support Mahomes. It’s strange to think he might have a bounce-back year in 2025 when his “down” years included a Super Bowl berth, but that’s the truth.
Kansas City Chiefs
The most underrated story in the NFL right now is that the Kansas City Chiefs have totally revamped the left side of the offensive line. First-round rookie Josh Simmons has blossomed into a set-and-forget piece at left tackle, and 2024 second-round pick Kingsley Suamataia has transitioned from tackle to left guard splendidly. Patrick Mahomes was sacked more than any other time in his career last season and may have cost them the opportunity for the NFL’s first-ever three-peat. If they fixed that with these changes to the left side, it’s a massive development. Grade: A
Trending 📉 📈 after NFL preseason Week 3, including the Chiefs’ offensive fix | The Athletic
The Chiefs’ offense looks elite again. Kansas City was a perennial top-six offense in each of Patrick Mahomes’ first five seasons. They peaked in 2022, leading the NFL in points and yards, but declined every year since.
What changed? It wasn’t Tyreek Hill’s departure, as he was traded in 2021, the year prior to their top season. The root of this issue can be traced back to the 2023 offseason, when left tackle Orlando Brown Jr. departed for a payday in Cincinnati after two Pro Bowl years protecting Mahomes’ blindside.
Last season, the Chiefs fielded their worst offense of the Mahomes era. They were just average, ranking 15th in points per game and 16th in yards, while Mahomes took a career-high 36 sacks. They had failed to adequately replace Brown … until now.
On Monday, during a press event on the sideline of the club’s practice fields, the Chiefs and Kansas City-based Burns & McDonnell announced a multi-year partnership that makes the engineering and construction firm the Official Engineering & Construction Partner of the Kansas City Chiefs and provides them sponsor rights to the team’s valuable practice patch.
“We are very excited and proud to announce this comprehensive and unique partnership with the great team at Burns & McDonnell,” Chiefs President Mark Donovan said. “As an employee-owned, Kansas City company, Burns & McDonnell has a long history and deep connection to Chiefs Kingdom and the people of Kansas City, while their footprint and work span the globe. Our team thrives on building programs that drive true value to our partners locally, regionally, nationally, and beyond, and we look forward to being on this journey with them.”

Bengals give Trey Hendrickson big pay bump after hold-in | ESPN
The star pass rusher will get a $14 million raise from the Cincinnati Bengals for this season, boosting his 2025 salary to $30 million, sources told ESPN’s Adam Schefter on Monday.
Hendrickson’s revised deal also includes a $1 million incentive that he collects if he plays 60% of the plays and the Bengals make the playoffs, sources told Schefter.
Hendrickson is scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent after this season.
Before receiving the raise, Hendrickson had not participated in any offseason workouts, including all of training camp, while seeking a new deal with the club. He had insisted he would not play this season under the original contract at $16 million.

Chiefs Roster: Starting offensive line shines in preseason finale |
After a rough game a week ago in Seattle, the unit needed a good bounce-back that could boost its confidence before the regular season — and it got just that.
Pass protection
It’s no secret: the Chiefs want to get back to throwing the ball downfield, creating the explosive plays the offense has lacked during the last two seasons. With the development of Xavier Worthy (and the addition of Tyqaun Thornton), it looks like the Chiefs might have found two players who can stretch the field.
While having these speedy wideouts is important, the pass protection must be there to give Mahomes time to throw — and on Friday, it was.
