The New York Giants have emerged from the first month of the 2026 season with a 3-1 record. That much isn’t surprising and is in line with many preseason predictions.
What wasn’t expected is that the Giants not only have sole possession of first place in the NFC East, but they’ve done it without Jaxson Dart and Brian Burns. Most expected the Giants to fold once they lost their franchise quarterback and star pass rusher. Instead, the Giants have kept fighting, literally down to the closing seconds
of the last two games, and new stars have emerged.
Arvell Reese is positioning himself in the race for defensive rookie of the year, while Abdul Carter has been a devastating pass rusher. At the same time, Jevon Holland, Deonte Banks, and Greg Newsome II have been playing much better in the secondary than many expected.
Elsewhere in the NFC East, meanwhile, the other teams have issues. The Philadelphia Eagles are short-handed and a mess on offense. The Dallas Cowboys have one of the most potent offenses in the NFL, but a defense that is still porous. Finally, the Washington Commanders don’t know what to expect from Jayden Daniels and there are questions elsewhere on their offense and defense.
So that brings up the question… Can the Giants stay resilient, hold off their division rivals, go from Worst To First, and win the NFC East?
