What is the story about?
Getting edgy all the time
There’s someone around, me just a step behind
It’s kinda scary, the shape I’m in
The Dots are shakin’ and they’re closing in
- The last major gap in the Huskies’ 2027 class closed yesterday, and the Dawgs sealed it up in a big way. While many position groups filled up pretty early in the cycle, it took a bit more time for the UW to get something close to a complete corps along the offensive line. The commitments of 4* iOL Gecova Doyal from WA and 3* legacy OT Tye Kennedy put UW in a great position in the trenches.
- Christian Caple has his own post on the joint commitments of Doyal and Kennedy. There’s lots of good information in the post, but one thing that stuck out to me was the idea that Doyal might be ready to compete for time at guard almost as soon as he walks on campus, while Kennedy (due to physical maturity and missing time with injury) is likely to take more time to become a contributor.
- Dawgman also weighs in with their analysis of the commitments and comments from the players themselves. Doyal talked about the relationship he has developed with OL Coach Michael Switzer. When Switzer took over the job a year ago, he didn’t have experience as a P4 position coach. However, he has quickly demonstrated that he can both coach players up to better performance on the field and form good bonds with recruits that get them to UW.
- Is there any news that isn’t about Doyal and Kennedy? Sort of! The Seattle Times has an article from Jon Wilner recounting the crazy path that Washington State and Oregon State have taken over the last year with yesterday as the official first day of the “new” Pac-12.
