Many football programs around the nation like to prioritize keeping talent home at the next level.
Michigan State is no different as head coach Pat Fitzgerald and staff have made multiple in-state offers over the last week.
It began on Oct. 29 when the Spartans extended an offer to three-star defensive lineman Elijah Willis.
Out of Martin Luther King High School in Detroit, Willis is one of the top players in Michigan. The three-star DL is currently ranked as the No. 9 overall player in the state and No. 47 player at his position in the nation.
Willis has been hearing from schools for awhile now but is beginning to rack up Power Four offers from the likes of Wisconsin, Nebraska, Washington, Iowa, and Iowa State.
Just one day later, the Spartans sent an offer to three-star wide receiver Jerrimiah Cross.
At 6-foot-1, Cross has become a sought-after receiver in the class with many high-level offers. He has heard from Indiana, Miami, Michigan, Kentucky, and USC, among many others.
Cross is approaching four-star status, via 247Sports, as his recruitment continues to take steps forward. Most recently, Michigan State also offered Texas athlete Reed Fowler. He currently holds 10 offers with Ole Miss, Auburn, and Utah being the most notable.
Fitzgerald has prioritized all positions in the 2028 class and this includes an attempt to keep the best talent in Michigan home and to East Lansing.
