The Washington Commanders’ eight-game losing streak is over, and yesterday’s win had some big implications for the order of next year’s draft. They defeated the New York Giants, who had the No. 1 spot going into Week 15, and who will remain the worst team in the NFL for another week. The Commanders were projected to have the 6th-overall pick before yesterday’s 29-21 win, but have dropped down to No. 8 with a 4-10 record.
There are three games left in the season, and Washington still has to play the Eagles
twice, and the Cowboys on Christmas day. Their best-case scenario(and least-likely) has them winning out, and ending the season at 7-10 which could put them in the middle of the first round. If they lose out, and finish 4-13, Washington should be guaranteed a top-10 pick next year.

The Washington Commanders currently have six picks in next year’s draft, and could be picking up a 6th-round compensatory pick. Washington traded two of their picks from this year’s draft to the Houston Texans for LT Laremy Tunsil. Those second- and fourth-round picks will be a lot higher than Adam Peters expected when he made the trade following Washington’s 12-5 season that ended in the NFC Championship Game. There will be opportunities to trade down to acquire more picks, and player trades could also be an option before or during the draft.
