The Portland Trail Blazers will have at least one home game in the 2025-26 NBA postseason.
By nature of the Golden State Warriors losing tonight, Portland is now four games ahead of Golden State with four games to play. Since Portland won their season series, the Blazers can no longer fall to 10th. That means Portland will play at home…
- If they finish 9th and they play the Warriors in the 9 / 10 Play-In game;
- If they finish 8th, lose their 8 /9 Play-In game, and then play the winner of 9/10;
- If they win their 8/9 game and finish 8th, setting up two home games in the Playoffs.
The Blazers will play their first postseason game this year since 2021 when the Terry Stotts- and Damian Lillard-led 42-40 Blazers lost in 6 games to the Denver Nuggets
in the first round of the playoffs.
Portland is tied with the Los Angeles Clippers after Los Angeles’ win tonight against the Sacramento Kings, and both the Blazers and Clippers have four games to play. The Blazers need to beat the Clippers this Fri. April 10 to own the tiebreaker and finish 8th if they end the season tied; otherwise, the Clippers will finish 8th if the teams are tied to end the year.
From another article we wrote a few days ago:
- The Blazers are 1-2 against the Clippers this season with one matchup remaining (Fri. April 10).
- If the Blazers WIN that game, both teams will be tied in the series matchup.
- The first seeding tiebreaker (series matchup) would be a push.
- The second tiebreaker is if the team wins their division (won’t apply).
- Third tiebreaker only applies if both teams are in the same division (won’t apply).
- Fourth tiebreaker is Conference record, and the Blazers (27-21 against West teams) will take that over the Clipper (22-25 against West teams).
- All of this means IF the Blazers beat the Clippers on Fri. April 10 and IF both teams end the season tied, the Blazers get the 8th spot.
- If the Blazers LOSE that game and both teams end the season tied, the Clippers get the 8th spot, and Portland falls to 9th.
Portland takes on the Denver Nuggets tomorrow in Denver at 6pm Pacific.
