Well, the Braves are likely in “rest and get ready for a short playoff series” mode. They clinched the division, but they have a very, very low chance of getting a bye. So, these final six games, both against no-longer-contenders, are essentially just forced appearances on the calendar.
That said, there are some things that the Braves could probably stand to learn from these games, and that we as fans can watch for as well. I’m guessing most of them are in the bullpen. Specifically, you have Robert
Suarez returning and showcasing whether or not he should be on the playoff roster. I mean, he probably will be there anyway, because there are a lot of bullpen spots and not a lot of great candidates for the final few, but he’ll either look rusty and problematic, or he’ll look better than that. It won’t mean much of anything for his likely tiny-sample work in a playoff series either way, but it’s something to watch for. Dylan Lee’s recent struggles and the potentially-associated arm angle/release point issues are another thing that’s hanging out there.
I think I hit the big ones, but what else is there to take in during these six games?
