If there was one player who embodied Bayern Munich’s determination and intensity in the 2-0 Champions League victory over Atlético Madrid, it was Konrad Laimer.
The Austrian delivered another outstanding performance, combining his trademark energy, work rate, and tactical intelligence with a decisive contribution in front of goal. His second-half strike in the 74th minute effectively put the game beyond Atlético, as he unleashed a powerful effort that flew past Jan Oblak and into the net.
However, Laimer’s contribution went well beyond that goal. He was constantly involved, working tirelessly on both sides of the ball, making intelligent movements, and helping Bayern maintain their control throughout the contest.
He completed 89% of his passes (50 of 56), won eight duels, registered seven recoveries, and contributed three shots. He also won four corners, demonstrating just how influential he was in Bayern’s attacking play.
There is something wonderfully dependable about Laimer. Whether operating in midfield or at right-back, he brings intensity, discipline, and an unwavering willingness to do the dirty work.
On a night when Bayern needed everyone to contribute, Laimer was exceptional. A goal, an all-action performance, and a thoroughly deserved Man of the Match recognition. What a performance!
