Basketball season is almost here, and West Virginia fans will get their first look at both WVU basketball teams at Ballin’ at Woodburn.
The event will take place Thursday, Oct. 15 at Woodburn Circle. It starts at 7 p.m., with gates opening at 6 p.m. Admission is free.
Ballin’ at Woodburn gives fans a chance to see the men’s and women’s teams before the season officially starts. Both teams will be introduced, and fans will get to see some of the new players WVU added during the offseason.
There will
also be plenty going on besides basketball. The event will have a DJ, food trucks, competitions with players and fans, interviews and performances from the WVU cheer and dance teams. Players will also have a 30-minute autograph session after the event.
For the men’s team, fans will get their first look at Ross Hodge’s second team at WVU.
The Mountaineers have a lot of new faces this season. WVU added several transfers, including Joson Sanon, Martin Somerville, Seydou Traore, Finley Bizjack and Javan Buchanan.
WVU also added some freshmen, including 7-foot-1 Amadou Seini and guard Miles Sadler. Ballin’ at Woodburn will be the first chance for many fans to see the new group together.
The women’s team also has plenty of new players.
One name West Virginia fans may already know is Alexis Bordas. The Wheeling native transferred to WVU from Duquesne and will now get the chance to play college basketball in her home state.
WVU also added transfers Skylar Forbes, Marya Hudgins and Zahirah Walton.
Obviously, Ballin’ at Woodburn is not going to tell us everything about either team. It is more about giving fans a chance to meet the players and get excited for the season.
But after a long offseason, it also means one thing… WVU basketball is almost back.
