The New Orleans Saints have had an excellent first day of the legal tampering window (technically not free agency). Going into today, the Saints needed to fix the LG position if they wanted any success on offense next season, and they got it done. In their biggest deal of the day, New Orleans signed former Buffalo Bills LG to a 4-year, $61 million deal, per Adam Schefter.
This has to be the best move the Saints
could have made. New Orleans has invested so much into fixing the offensive tackles, and it finally feels like they are solid, but the interior deteriorated while that was happening. The run game and QB Tyler Shough’s safety were impacted, and Kellen Moore knew this needed to be fixed.
Edwards at LG will fix the Saints’ issues. He is a good run and pass blocker, and next to Kelvin Banks Jr., the Saints won’t need to worry about that side of the line. Now, New Orleans must evaluate Cesar Ruiz at RG, because an upgrade could still be made.
