Today, the KC Current announced that Lo’eau LaBonta has signed a new three-year deal through the 2028 season.
“Lo has been a staple of the Kansas City Current since the beginning, and we are excited to extend her time here,” said general manager Caitlin Carducci. “Her presence in training, in matches, in the locker room and in the community is one of a kind. Lo has been vital in cultivating a standard of excellence here at the Kansas City Current and will be for years to come.”

to NWSL Shield, I’ve seen how far we’ve come and I’m hyped to see how far we can go,” said LaBonta. “I’ve grown with this club and this city, and I’ve seen how belief turns into history. This new contract is about more than just soccer – it’s about building a legacy, one celly at a time.”
The standout midfielder’s legendary career started by initially being drafted by Sky Blue FC in 2015 out of Stanford University. She played for FC Kansas City and the Utah Royals before returning to Kansas City in 2021 ahead of its inaugural NWSL season.
LaBonta is one of 48 players in NWSL history with over 150 regular season appearances and became the 26th player to earn 150 career regular season starts.
With the Current, she has tallied 21 goals and seven assists.
Internationally, she earned her first USWNT call-up earlier this year. On May 31, she made earned her first appearance and became the oldest player to debut for the United States Women’s National Team in their history. Most recently LaBonta received another call-up for friendlies against Portugal and New Zealand.
