While a majority of readers were expecting a loss vs. SMU on Monday, just how much did the outcome of the matchup change your opinion about this year’s FSU football team?
Some game notes from Monday night:
- Running back Ousmane Kromah rushed for 116 yards on 22 carries Monday night vs. SMU. After rushing for 115 yards in the season opener against New Mexico State, Kromah is the first Seminole with 100+ rushing yards in consecutive games since Trey Benson in 2022 (Georgia Tech, Miami, Syracuse).
- Kromah scored on a 6-yard run, his second rushing touchdown of the season.
- Quarterback Ashton Daniels accounted for 196 total yards, including 71 on the ground and an 8-yard rushing score, his second as a Seminole.
- Daniels surpassed 5,000 career passing yards in the contest and now has 5,110 in his career.
- Running back Samuel Singleton Jr. led FSU with 40 receiving yards, including a career-long 39-yard touchdown that tied the game in the fourth quarter. Singleton’s two receiving touchdowns lead the team.
- Wide receiver Duce Robinson caught two passes Monday, giving him 100 for his career.
- Florida State’s defense forced four takeaways Monday night, its most in a game since 2022 at Miami (also four).
- Cornerback Quindarrius Jones forced and recovered a fumble on SMU’s opening drive, one week after earning his first career interception on New Mexico State’s opening drive.
- Nehemiah Chandler had an interception, his first as a Seminole and third of his career. Gemari Sands fell on a muffed punt in the second half, his first career takeaway.
- Linebacker Omar Graham Jr. set a career high with nine tackles, including 1.0 tackles for loss.
- Defensive back Ma’Khi Jones set a career high with seven tackles.
- Kicker Gabe Panikowski converted on a season-long 46-yard field goal. He is now 18-for-18 in his NCAA career on field goal attempts.
- The Seminoles converted all three PATs and have made 169 consecutive point-after tries, dating back to 2022.

Both FSU men and women’s golf are competitng in the Folds of Honor Collegiate Invitational:
Haruhi Nakatani birdied three of her final four holes Tuesday, closing with a two-under 70 to lead Florida State in the
second round of the Folds of Honor Collegiate at American Dunes Golf Club. Birdies were harder to come by for the Seminoles on day two, but a strong finish kept them firmly in contention. Florida State shot a 290 (+2), putting them in third place at two-over par for the tournament, one stroke behind second-place Arizona and seven behind Kansas, which maintained its lead from round one. Nakatani was steady from the start, making nine consecutive pars to open her round and turn in an even-par 36 on the front nine. She found her rhythm on the back nine, making her first birdie of the day on the par-4 10th before closing with birdies on Nos. 15, 16, and 18. Her 70 moved her into a tie for third on the individual leaderboard at two under for the tournament. Louise Landgraf continued to make an immediate impact in her first collegiate tournament, posting her first round under par with a one-under 71. The freshman made just two bogeys, answering each with a birdie, before closing with another birdie on No. 18. Her second-round 71 moved her into a tie for 11th at one over for the tournament. Sophia Fullbrook overcame a difficult stretch in the middle of her round to stay in the top 10. The junior made three bogeys over a four-hole span but responded by playing her final eight holes at one under par. Her one-over 73 put her in a tie for seventh at one under through 36 holes. Elin Pudas Remler carded a four-over 76 as the fourth counting score for the Seminoles.
As for the men, Wilmer Edero shot the lowest round of the day for the Seminoles, shooting 2-under, 69 on the day. Edero carded six birdies in the round, improving his score from Monday by nine strokes, climbing 21 spots in the leaderboard.
Carson Brewer also improved on Tuesday, finishing the day even, 71. Brewer carded a pair of birdies, both on the back nine.
Shawn Coultoff is tied for 10th place overall after carding a round of 73, sitting 2-under, 140. Nils-Bock Levi finished the round 5-over, 76 and is 6-over, 148.
Florida State soccer sophomore goalkeeper Kate Ockene has been named the ACC Goalkeeper of the Week:
Ockene earns an ACC weekly accolade for the first time in her career, and she is the first FSU player to be named ACC Goalkeeper of the Week, as the award is bestowed by the league for the first time in 2026. Previously eligible for ACC Defensive Player of the Week accolades, the last Florida State goalkeeper recognized was Cristina Roque in 2022. Since ACC weekly honors were awarded beginning in 2010, four Seminole goalkeepers have received a total of eight weekly honors.
This is Ockene’s first award of any kind this season after she concluded the 2025 campaign as the College Cup Defensive Most Outstanding Player.
In a pair of matches last week, Ockene totaled 11 saves, with three in a 2-1 comeback win at No. 25 Georgia on September 3 and a season-best eight saves in a 1-1 draw to Rice on September 6. The eight saves vs. Rice is one shy of Ockene’s career high, while the three saves vs. UGA came as the Bulldogs attempted 18 shots.
Ockene has made 18 saves on the season, 11 coming last week, in five games. She boasts a 3-1-1 record with two shutouts. Her 3.6 saves per game is second in the ACC through the end of non-conference play.
